City of London Corporation – Trading Standards Service
Oeno consumers who have invested funds through the purchase of wine from Oeno over the past decade are advised that there is a risk that some or all of their investment may be lost. Based on information presently available to Trading Standards, it is believed that only a limited proportion of the wine—estimated to be approximately 20%—is held in individual customer accounts and may therefore be directly accessible to customers. The remainder of the wine is understood to be held within an account controlled by Oeno Future Limited.
During recent weeks, steps have been taken to transfer wine from the Oeno Future Limited account into individual customer accounts. This has been a complex and resource-intensive process, and only a relatively small quantity of wine has been successfully transferred to date.
At this stage, there is no further verified information available. The most important next step is for the company to be placed into administration, which would enable an independent insolvency practitioner to assess the company’s affairs and determine the appropriate course of action.
If you believe that you may have been a victim of fraud in relation to your purchase of wine, you should report the matter to the police via Report Fraud at: https://www.reportfraud.police.uk/
Reports received will be reviewed in due course; however, the police will not be able to provide further assistance at this stage.
Consumers are also advised to exercise caution. Any unsolicited contact from individuals or organisations claiming that they can recover money for the payment of a fee is likely to constitute recovery fraud. No payments should be made to any such parties.
Trading Standards will provide further updates should additional verified information become available.
