Oeno Invited To Participate In Madrid Fusion
20/05/2021Daniel Carnio, co-founder of Oeno, has been invited to speak at Madrid Fusión which is this year launching a brand-new congress entitled “The Wine Edition”. Madrid Fusion is the world’s leading gastronomy conference which gathers over 100 top chefs from across the world, in addition this year to Spain’s leading Masters of Wine and top winemakers.
Daniel Carnio has been invited to speak alongside Almudena Alberca, first female Master of Wine in Spain, who is Oeno’s Brand Ambassador for Spain. On the second day of Madrid Fusión, June 1st, Almudena Alberca MW will host an interesting round table on the topic of fine wine, wine investment, the current market situation, and strategies to monetize your cellar. The speakers will be Daniel Carnio, Jochen de Vylder from Ampersand Wine Auctions, and Francois Passaga, owner of FAP Grand Cru.
On the evening of May 31 Oeno will also host a wine tasting in the gardens of the Hotel Santo Mauro with some of the most prestigious wines included in the firm’s portfolio such as B de Boërl & Kroff 2012, a Le Pergole Torte 2016 double magnum and a 2008 Penfolds Grange Bin 95. This event will be attended by Madrid’s premier wine journalists and wine experts.
Almudena Alberca MW
Almuena Alberca is an oenologist who currently serves as Oeno’s Brand Ambassador for Spain and Technical Director of Grupo Bodegas Palacio 1894. In 2018, she became the first woman in Spain to be named Master of Wine (MW) – the only female representative among Spain’s four MWs. The Master of Wine is a title that acknowledges excellence in the wine industry, with just a little over 400 members around the world.
During her 15 years in the winemaking industry, this Zamora-born oenologist’s career has mostly unfolded in Spain, with the occasional experience around the world, in places as remote as New Zealand. She has worked at boutique wineries such as Viñas del Cenit (D.O. Tierra del Vino de Zamora) and Dominio de Atauta (D.O. Ribera del Duero).
Daniel Carnio
Daniel Carnio was born in the world of wine, taking his first sip aged six and helping with his grandfather’s vineyards’ grape harvests. After studying oenology with Mario Fregoni, Carnio made wine with the great late Gianfranco Soldra, worked as a sommelier at Michelin-starred restaurants and started his first fine wine investment company before turning 30. Today, Carnio’s encyclopaedic knowledge of wine and his exceptional industry contacts are an invaluable asset for Oeno.
