Oeno Releases Pristine Montevertine Collections
18/01/2021Set in the rolling hills of Chianti, the 11-hectare Montevertine estate is one of Tuscany’s legendary producers thanks to the vision and foresight of founder Sergio Manetti. Tiring of the restrictive Chianti DOC regulations, in 1977 Sergio released his very first 100% Sangiovese wine, Le Pergole Torte, which is now one of the most sought-after Super Tuscans on the market. Since his wines no longer conformed to the strict rules of the Chianti appellation, he labelled them simply as “Vino da Tavola” or “Table Wine”.
The estate’s other principal wines are the rare single vineyard Il Sodaccio, which has not been produced since 1998 when the vineyard fell victim to disease, and Montevertine which was initially made under the Chianti Classico label until 1982.

The Oeno wine team have worked hard to acquire several pristine collections of mature Montervertine wines direct from the cellars of the estate. The collections include vintages from the 1990s, such as the 1994, 1995 and 1998, as well as a broad spectrum of vintages from the 2000s and 2010s. It is very challenging to obtain mature Montevertine wines like these which have been kept at the winery itself since their inception due to the tiny production quantities and ever-dwindling availability of older vintages.
We expect these four exceptional collections to sell out very quickly. The Oeno wine team reports that Montevertine has been the most sought-after winey at wine auctions over the past year, making it a superb investment opportunity for those able to enter the market now.
