Red Carpet Glamour At #OenoInVenice Event
16/09/2020On September 12th Oeno welcomed 150 guests to the Casinò di Venezia for our FUORIMOSTRA gala held with the patronage of the City of Venice. During the evening Oeno clients and special guests were able to taste top Italian wines from our portfolio including Bibi Graetz, Rocca di Frassinello, Castellare di Castellina, and Podere Giannni Gagliardo.

At 5pm Italian and British journalists attended an invite-only tasting hosted by Armando Castagno, Italy’s key Burgundy expert and legendary wine critic. The tasting featured four blockbuster Italian wines, Giuseppe Quintarelli Alzero 1995, Tenuta di Trinoro 1998, Montevertine Sodaccio 1985 and GAJA Sori San Lorenzo 1985. Also included was the exceptional Chateau Margaux 1990.

The evening also featured a silent auction to benefit small businesses in the City of Venice as they struggle to recover from the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic. The auction included extremely rare large format wines such as three double magnums of Gaja Barbaresco signed by Angelo Gaja himself and a stunning glass sculpture by Giancarlo Signoretto inspired by Picasso’s painting of Marie-Thérèse Walter. The proceeds of the auction raised a total of €13,841 to help support the city at this time.

Prior to the event the Oeno team were invited to the Venice City Hall and officially welcomed by the Deputy Mayor Simone Venturini and President del Consiglio Ermelinda Damiano who presented them with the ancient symbol of the City of Venice. Oeno’s CEO and Co-Founder Daniel Carnio in turn presented the Mayor and Deputy Mayors with bottles of the very first vintage of his Doi Mats wine.
