Vérité Dinner At City Social

On Wednesday 29th of January, Oeno was joined by Brand Ambassador and Master Sommelier Dimitri Mesnard to host a very special dinner and tasting of Vérité’s top-scoring wines in the fabulous surroundings of City Social’s private dining room. Vérité is today one of the most highly-rated wineries in the world with 12 perfect 100-point scores from Robert Parker, more than any other Sonoma County estate.

Vérité was founded by Jess Jackson and French winemaker Pierre Seillan in 1997 out of a desire to create the “Petrus of Sonoma”. This exceptional Merlot was later given the name La Muse and over the years has been joined by the Medoc-style La Joie and Le Desir which is predominantly made from Cabernet Franc . Together the trio have been described as “three of the finest wines being made in California” by legendary American wine critic Robert Parker.

Guests were treated to an aperitif of Champagne Brimoncourt Brut Regence NV followed by three delicious courses paired with some of Vérité’s finest recent vintages. First up were the fabulous La Muse 2006, Le Desir 2006 and La Joie 2006 paired with a pigeon and Alsace bacon starter, showing off the incredible capability of these wines to age gracefully without losing their youthful energy and charm.

Dimitri then introduced the magnificent La Muse 2013 which was awarded a perfect 100-point score by Robert Parker who described the wine as “amazingly like a great vintage of Pétrus”. This magnificent wine was accompanied by perfectly-cooked beef short rib and La Joie 2014 and Le Desir 2014, both produced during an exceptional growing season in Sonoma.

As the night drew to a close there was one final surprise on the table – a bottle of the 1998 Vérité which was the very first wine Pierre Seillan produced on the estate. A true taste of Sonoma history, this extremely rare bottle is crafted from 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon and shows just how well these wines can age.
