From the beautiful old vines at John and Caterina Teldeschi’s ranch in the heart of Dry Creek’s famed East Bench, the 2019 Lorenzo’s is one of the best iterations we have made of this wine (a wine we have made since the original 2007 vintage). Over the years we have taken on a couple additional blocks at the ranch, including the excellent “winery” block located right behind the F. Teldeschi winery. This block adds voluptuously fruited and aromatic Zinfandel, which plays beautifully with the more structured fruit located at the home ranch and makes the wine a bit friendlier in its youth. As usual, this wine is about 65% Zinfandel with the balance being Carignan from a block planted on gravel and some of the oldest Petite Sirah we work with, also located on the home ranch.
