A classic Barolo produced in the cru that best expresses the style of Bruno Giacosa, the 2001 Riserva presents all the breadth of the olfactory baggage of a mammoth Barolo: fruit in alcohol, plum jam, truffles, liquorice, flint (for Bruno Giacosa, THE descriptor of Falletto), mushrooms, cloves, juniper and cardamom, chocolate, cola, cinchona.
“A lively ruby color not too concentrated. The bouquet of Giocosa is a model of the new millennium, with jams from the underbrush standing out, delicate scents, whispered, with precise points but with ‘everything in the right place’ like the body of a curvy model. The taste is very elegant, multifaceted, slightly balsamic and with a fabric of tannins which is significant but not aggressive. The satisfaction it gives to the palate is great, as is the long-lasting aftertaste which is truly remarkable. While carefully experiencing the gelid sensation of perfection in every component you realize that you’ve finished the glass.
