“Daniel Twardowski uses only the best of second-hand barriques from Burgundy estates such as Bize-Leroy and Armand Rousseau.

That’s why the Pinot Ardoise 2017 shows very little wood on the nose, but plenty of structure on the palate. The scent of spicy plum is supplemented with a hint of cherry, but vegetal aromas are equally represented with notes of bell pepper and tomato leaves. A gentle scent of hay completes the olfactory diversity. The beauty of Twardowski’s subtle employment of oak is that even in his young wines you do not get any obstreperous tannins, leaving room for a truly juicy expression of acidity.
