Sell Out Success for 100-point Seña & Viñedo Chadwick 2018

15/09/2020

Last week OenoFuture released the 2018 vintage of Chilean wines Seña & Viñedo Chadwick which sold out within hours. This sell out success is proof of the strong demand for investment-grade wines.

As the Covid-19 pandemic rages on and economic uncertainties continue, investors are increasingly drawn to the stability offered by high performing assets like fine wine. When combined with discounted prices from producers and steady demand from collectors and drinkers the world over, there has quite simply never been a better time to invest in fine wine.

Seña was founded in 1995 by Robert Mondavi and Eduardo Chadwick of Errazuriz in Chile’s famous Aconcagua Valley and is today considered one of the country’s iconic wines. The wine is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (typically 55 to 60 percent) with Carmenere, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, matured in new French oak barrels over 22 months. The 2018 vintage has already been given it’s first perfect 100-point score by James Suckling and 98 points by Wine Advocate.

Viñedo Chadwick hails from Chile’s Maipo Valley just south of Santiago which is frequently nicknamed the “Bordeaux of South America” thanks to its excellent Cabernet Sauvignon. The winery was formerly the polo field of Alfonso Chadwick Errázuriz, known for his visionary leadership of winery Viña Errázuriz. In 1992 his son Eduardo persuaded his father to convert the site to vines, harnessing the excellent potential of the terroir here.

In the words of top wine critic Tim Atkin, “the 2018 Chadwick is the best release yet from this polo-field turned world class vineyard. Elegant and ethereal, with no sign of tell-tale Chilean eucalyptus, it’s a red that could easily be slipped incognito into asting of top Bordeaux crus classés. More Margaux than Pauillac in style, with raspberry and red cherry fruit and supple, fine-grained tannins.”

This week OenoFuture will be announcing special releases from Bibi Graetz and Penfolds’ exclusive Champagne project, Thiénot x Penfolds. Further details to follow shortly.
