Emma Gao, Silver Heights owner and winemaker

We are honoured to have had the opportunity to welcome Emma Gao for wine tastings, where we delved into the unique and one-of-a-kind world of Silver Heights, Ningxia’s most exceptional boutique winery and a driving force in China’s viticultural revolution.

Both our private customers and trade clients had the privilege of meeting Emma. She guided them through two tastings, covering her personal wine history and showcasing some of the estate’s most significant labels.

In addition to The Summit 2017, the flagship of the winery, Emma introduced our guests to her Family Reserve range, including the Family Reserve Chardonnay 2017 and Family Reserve 2014. Lastly, she treated them to her own special project, Emma’s Reserve 2017.

Recounting the complexity of heroic viticulture, often necessitated by extreme climatic conditions, Emma discussed the various techniques implemented both in the vineyard and in the cellar. These techniques aim to achieve a constant strive for stylistic balance, and she spoke humbly of consistently placing herself in the line, vintage after vintage. This commitment ensures that wines are always true to their origins and reflect the essence of their place of origin.

Undoubtedly, having access to these exceptional labels was a unique opportunity. We were delighted to once again welcome Emma Gao to the UK after three years.
